Off the Airwaves

Something I heard off the airwaves, pretty funny in my opinion...

NCP: Hey Edwards, did you watch CSI last night?

Edward: It's Edward, and no, I did not watch CSI last night. I was feeling a little under the weather.

NCP: Hmm, the weather was fine.. why, did it rained?

Edward: No, the weather was fine, I did not watch CSI last night, I was just feeling a little queasy.

NCP: Oh, you like quiz shows huh..

Edward: No, I don't like quiz shows, the weather was fine, I did not watch CSI last night. I was sick. I was in bed the whole night. I had the flu.

--To bridge the gap, go read a book today--

NCP: Flew? Where you flew to?

Somewhere

There's a place for us
somewhere a place for us
He sent quiet and open air
waits for us
somewhere..

There's a time for us
someday a time for us
Time together with time to spare
time to bear
time to care
Someday..
somewhere..
we'll find the new way of living
We'll find the way of forgiving
somewhere..

There's a place for us
somewhere a place for us
Hold my hand and I'll take you there
hold my hand and I'll take you there
Somehow..
someday..
somewhere..

Day trip

(copy of e-mail)

Dear Che,

We went to four places on Mon. The weather started out very promising, clear blue skies and reasonably warm. Then...it was all down-hill...abruptly halting at cloudy skies and dull colours all the way, all the while in the background the driver telling us that it would be beautiful...in the SUMMER.

Anyways, the tour we took had a driver who doubles as the guide. He drove fast and chattered on as well, which was worrying at times. Quite a historian and told histrory like a real story, mixing in his own interpretation of events and thoughts of noble men of old, haha...funny but he put me to sleep several times, there's just so many times I can listen to the same old jokes and insinuations. It gets boring once I've got the gist of his style of story-telling ("...so there was the old king riding his horse right...(rounding the corner)...where was I...? right...so the king was galloping away...").

Anyhows, we went to Loch Lomond which was just a very very big lake (and is supposed to be really pretty in the SUMMER), we rode a boat and had to go up on deck to see things properly as the cabin area's windows were all fogged up. So...it was freezing cold in the WIND and too many people on deck. There were many luxury hotels lining the lake, which had many famous guests but that was about it. The Loch Ness monster didn't even bother to make an appearance, probably'd prefer dozing at the bottom of the lake on the day that was. I did have a nice time looking at the lake surface though...it's been a long time since I've been near a large puddle of water ; )

We then dropped by Aberfoyle, a really small town by the looks of it, surviving by a hair mostly by charging visitors looking for lunch exorbitant fees (which we were), haha...I didn't bother though, brought something to eat anyways. 1 pound 70p for a hollow tart filled with whipped cream n 2 strawberries of average size...no thank you.

Then the driver brought us to the Trossachs which is a national park which evidently has roads not maintained by the council. It was snowed over and wasn't treated with salt so we had to skip that place.

Then we went on to Stirling Castle. Very historic and you start thinking of all the kings and queens and subjects passing through, just for awhile though. The place was basically empty as it was still under preservation works and all the belongings of the castle were under restoration works. Not too bad though looking out the windows, it's got a very commanding view. And yes, of course there were some things to see (once I've filtered the photos out ; ))

Then we headed back and I munched on Oreos and took a nap under the driver's droning.

Yup, so that was it. Then, we went home to snacking and cooking semi-elaborate dinners. Haha...

Ivy

The aforesaid Loch Ness monster should in fact be the Loch Lomond monster obviously... if there is such a thing. This was indeed a glaring mistake overlooked on the overall greyish-coloured trip ; )

History of Bak Kut Teh?

Original Bak Kut Teh was known as Bak Kut. Those days was served as dry Bak Kut.

Many years ago a Bak Kut stall under the Klang bridge, operated by "Ah Teh", came up with the soup version with herbs and stuff as how we are familiar with the rich aroma and taste today. Because there were so many Bak Kut stalls in Klang, the "Ah Teh" chap's Bak Kut was named as Bak Kut Teh by his regular patrons.

The same Bak Kut Teh stall under the bridge still exist today as it is run by his decendents. In Taipan along the same row with Starbucks, there is a branch with the "Under the Bridge" logo ran by his great grandchildrens.

Another version:

BKT originated for the coolies that worked at the harbour in Port Klang. The coolies smoked opium and thus their tastebuds are affected; lack sensitivity to the flavour of food. In order to improvise the flavour of their soup, the cook decided to boil the pork ribs and meat in strong Chinese medical herbs. As such, the coolies would be able to enjoy a delicious bowl of soup during meal time.

-Improvised from a local forum, truth unknown-

(editor's note: one thing we'd know is that BKT originated from Port Klang and probably was the same cook called Ah Teh. Well, do we all really care about history? More like where's the best place to eat rite...for me, best place for BKT is still ss14, the middle shop - tad salty tho...but aren't they all? Altho i did have my first BKT when i was really little then, somewhere in Sri Gombak...that, was unbeatable still)
